I think the "don't boo, vote" ethos is part of what gets us here. It treats voting as the only legitimate way to be political and treats the choice as a utilitarian calculation between a "bad guy" and a "good guy."

For Biden to change his position, he would have to admit he was wrong, and that is never going to happen. It would also amount to admitting that Israel is committing genocide, even more unthinkable. By going along with Netanyahu, he can deny that genocide is the issue, however unconvincing the claim is, and not have to admit to being a party to it, which of course would finish him and the Democratic Party.

I don't want the be an edgelord but can't you make an argument that it's incumbent on blue state voters who oppose the slaughter not to vote for Biden? Obviously I don't want a Trump term but ... my NY vote means literally nothing in terms of the election outcome. But if enuf people do it maybe it'll scare Dems into changing course,

Wonderful article, pulling it all together. Thank you. I can't imagine voting for Biden again. But it might be irrelevant given the way SCREW US COURT is going--good article in Rolling Stone about that. I don't know who makes me want to vomit more: Congress, Biden, that court, or Trump. 🤢 Maybe mass vomiting could do something! Just at a total loss here. 🤯

I have a longer rant, too. You guys have really educated me with your writing and Citations Needed, a podcast that is essential listening, especially in these times that are life and death.
