End of year message from The Column
Hi all,
We’re writing to ask those of you who haven’t given yet, but can, to consider signing up to be monthly paid subscribers. The six bucks you’d toss our way each month would make a huge difference: A steady stream allows us to view The Column as a sustainable, long-term project, one we can make plans for, and keep building and growing. Small donations from readers who are not wealthy are pretty much the only good way to fund journalism and analysis under capitalism, but this kind of infrastructure is hard to build, and we’re not there yet.
We’re really proud of the work we’ve been doing. We are trying our best to cover issues that are criminally under-covered: vaccine apartheid, the starving of Afghanistan during a brutal winter, ongoing U.S. participation in the war on Yemen. We are guided by what we think is politically important and ethically pressing, and we want to protect our ability to maintain this standard by making sure we’re funded by regular people—readers who are invested in this political project.
We have big plans for the coming year. We want to continue building this as a space for critical analysis and reflection, and to keep our content free and available to anyone who’s interested. Thank you for reading, and for considering this appeal.
All our solidarity and well wishes for 2022,
Sarah and Adam
