I'm one of those millennials who was hyped on Obama in 2008 and have since slid into total cynicism about the party. Honestly don't think the Dems could ever win me back after what happened to Bernie in 16 and 20. The hurt and anger runs too deep. I wish they'd proven me wrong about their own cynicism, but they have nothing real to offer.

I absolutely hate the democratic party, but there is literally no alternative. I'm not voting for the white supremacist fascists and not voting just helps them. We are stuck between a rock and hard place because our constitution sets up such a fucking awful electoral system we never have more then two parties.

Then, as a component of our advocacy, we should every day be demanding some kind of electoral reform that would break the death-grip that the two-party system has on US society. Not talking about this as a regular component of every issue problem means treating the constraints as natural, and treating the constraints as natural helps the powers that be.

If the Democratic Party truly care about stopping fascism and the Republican Party, it would advocate for some kind of electoral reform that would make it not the only alternative, but, when we don't talk about this, we let them get away with not creating alternatives to oppose fascism and the Republican Party.

Punching left is, at least in some instances, a perfectly rational tactic for the Democratic Party GIVEN THE EXISTING SYSTEMIC CONSTRAINTS. We should demand an alteration of those constraints.
